More Snow Fun!

Greetings!
I thought I would share another layout I created using the Close To My Heart Aspen My Reflections Kit. This layout highlights photos we took last weekend in Ohio when we went to the festival of Lights at the Columbus Zoo with 24 of our closest friends! There were actually 14 children (all under the age of 11) and 10 adults. We met for a delicious dinner at Bucca DiPepo and then off to the zoo we went! What a fun evening it was for everyone! It was cold, cold, cold-just the way I like it!
My Kit of the Month Scrapbook Clubs will be creating this layout, as well as, the two I shared with you yesterday in January. I'd love for you to join in our monthly scrappin' fun! Please contact me today to sign up. The club is for both local and long distance scrappers. If you have a friend join with you- you will receive a free gift! If you gather 4 of your family members and/or friends to form your own club you will recieve a $25.00 gift certificate!

GOT Snow? Yes! Yes! We did GET SNOW!

Hello! I have been busy creating artwork that I am excited to share with you all! This is our family Christmas card this year. If you have been reading my blog for the last 4 weeks, you know that I absolutely love SNOW and tend to get a little sad down here in the south during this time of year. I thought this card was perfect to send to all our family and friends and I am happy to share it with all of you here on my blog, as well!

A few days after mailing our cards out we traveled back to Ohio to where we used to live prior to moving to Charelston. We spent a fabulous 4 days with our dear friends, the Dozer's (thank you so much, again, for your hospitality guys. We loved spending time with you all!). What made this trip perfect was that, not only did we have quality time with the Dozer family, but we were able to spend time visiting with many of our other close Ohio friends. It was like a big reunion and it was wonderful!

Well, guess what? Ohio had their first really big snowfall of the year the day after we arrived! It started snowing early Saturday morning and continued to snow well into the evening hours. It was beautiful! The kids had a blast playing outside and we all took a wonderful walk in a winter wonderland! I was so happy! And how appropriate that the snow occured while we were visitng. All our friends commented that we "GOT" our snow! I love all the photos we took! Here are two layouts I created last night using some of my favorite photos. I must thank my dear friend, Shannon, for the inspritation on the "Friendship Snow" layout. She shared her idea with me and then I tweaked it just a bit to fit my photos. I hope you all enjoy!

My scrapbook clubs will be creating these layouts in January. If you are interested in creating these layouts and/or learning more about my scrapbook clubs please contact me today. I have both local and long distance clubs and I would love to have you join in on all the fun!

Snowflake Wishes,

Amy

TAKE THIS!

What Scrapbook Item are You?
Take the quiz by clicking the link above. :)

Hello Again!
So sorry for my absense! I have been out of town visiting very dear friends back in Ohio. We just returned home late Tuesday night. I am so excited to share my memories of my trip with you all but I will have to do that when I have more time.

I do, however, have this fun quiz for you to take. Again,, my good friend Shannon shared this with me and I thought it was cute! Take the quiz to learn what Scrapbook Item you are and then share with me! I have shared my results below. Have fun!

Here was my result...

Your Result
You are PAPER!You are an all natural basic person who likes to act as a foundation to others. You are willing to take a backseat in most of your relationships and let others take the spotlight, while you show your support and help them shine! Underneath it all, you are the one who makes it all happen. You are the focus and stability in any group, even if you are not the leader. Others look to you to set the pace and provide ideas for ways to get things done. But Paper Beware - sometimes you get a little edgy with the people who look to you for support and can give them some papercut remarks that can hurt their feelings. Remember to watch what you say, because you are best when leading by example.

What Movie Are You Most Like?

Greetings!

My dear friend, Shannon shared this cute quiz on her blog and I wanted to share it with all of you. I took the quiz and have posted my results.

I hope you will take the quiz, as well and share your results!

Have fun!

Happy December!

Wow! It is already December. Time seems to go by faster and faster the older I get! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and were able to spend quality time with family and friends. I love the family traditions my family and I have at Thanksgiving time. Stan or I always run in the turkey day race. This year it was Stan's turn. He did great and the kids and I had alot of fun cheering him to the finish line.

After the race we come home and prepare our Thanksgiving feast. It is always just the 5 of us. We love the quality time we share together! Thanksgiving night we always watch The Grinch (my favorite Christmas special) and then once the kids are in bed Stan and I decorate the tree and put out all the decorations. The best part of this is seeing the kids wake up the next morning and see all the decorations! They get so excited!

Over the weekend I worked hard on creating gifts for my children's teachers at school. They were quite time consuming (because I made 9) but I did have fun! I created this "Christmas in a Box" for each teacher. I used the Memory Boxes Close To My Heart introduced in the Autumn/Winter Idea Book. I love these boxes! You can use them for just about anything! Stan made the insert dividers for the inside of the box. I created the Christmas cards using the "Merry & Bright" card kit. The gift enclosure cards, envelopes and gift tags were also created using a variety of Close To My Heart products. Everything needed to wrap gifts and send holiday greetings to is found in this awesome box that I decorated with a Christmas Theme. It was so much fun that I think I will create a Valentine Box and offer it as a workshop!
My 3 children went to school today with their boxes. They were all excited to present them to their teachers!

If you need any gift ideas this holiday season, please feel free to contact me. Close to My Heart has the perfect gifts for everyone on your list this year!

Make it a wonderful day!

Amy

Blessing #2 My Parents!

I love my parents! They are the most wonderful couple in the world! I am the youngest of 5 children. My parents gave my siblings and I the most perfect childhood. They raised each one of us to be kind, considerate and to always try our best and treat others the way we would like to be treated. Growing up I did not always realize just how lucky I was to be given my mom and dad. Now that I am a parent I know I was given the best of the best! My parents always supported my siblings and I in whatever activities we were involved with. I never remember my mom really yelling at us or feeling frazzled or stressed...and she had 5 children-5 very different children at that! My parnets made every day specila in some small way.
My parents always emphasize the importance of family. They taught us to always look after each other. I am proud to say that my siblings and I are extremely close. Unfortunately, we all live in different states and do not see each other very often but we do know that we are always here for one another and we always will be. I loved how they welcomed Stan into our family with open arms right from the start. They treated him like a sibling and they love him like a brother. I am really looking forward to being with most of my siblings again over the holidays.
My parents are excellent role models on what a marriage should be. I remember my mother telling me right before I married Stan that it is very important to make time for each other weekly. It is very easy to get caught up in your childrens' lives and neglect your spouse. Stan and I took this advice to heart and do make time for each other on a weekly basis.
My parents just celebrated their 51st anniversary last Sunday. They are truly best friends and soul mates. Happy anniversay Mom & Dad! You are wonderful! You are so special to me and I love you with my whole heart!
I created this layout last February when my siblings and I planned a surpsie party for my mother's 70th birthday. It was a small celebration with just my siblings and mom and dad. It was so awesome to be together again and to surpsie my mom!

Blessing #3 My Children

God was so good to bring me 3 heathly children. I love each of them dearly! Yes, I have my moments where I want to ship them off to Grammy & Grampy's house but when I look at the big picture...they truly are my life. Each one has his/her own uniqueness which makes living in our house all the more interesting!

Tucker James is growing up! This past Sunday he presented Stan & I with a letter expressing why he disagreed with a handful of the rules we have in our household. Stan and I were caught off guard. This was a hug wake-up call to me. My little boy is growing up! We sat down with Tucker last night and went over his list with him. It was wonderful to have an adult like conversation with him. We allowed him to share his thoughts and feelings and he allowed us to do the same. After he went to bed I pondered on what had just happened and I felt blessed that he felt comfortable enough sharing how he felt with us. I know as he contniues to grow he will be exposed and pressured into doing things he know is not right. I feel confident, after last night, that he will come to Stan and I when things like that start to happen.

Molly McKenzie is my helper! She always knows where everything is! She is a wonderful big sister and younger sister. I was touched one day this past summer when she was busy working on a project. She said it was a surprsie. Once she finished she invited me to come take a look. She had created a doll bed for her friend, Gabby's doll. Gabby was going to be visiting us for a week and Molly wanted Gabby's doll to have a place to sleep! Whenever Stan walks in the door from work Molly always greets him wiht a hug and asks him, "how was work today, Daddy?" Stan loves this! What a precious heart my Molly has!

Payton Marie is the smile that keeps our family together. She is quite the drama queen! Payton is full of energy and spunk and loves life. She is eager to please and loves to be cuddled. I am still trying to adjust to having her in school every day all day!

Blessing #4 SMILES!

My good friend, Shannon, reminded me of how much I love smiles!
I always try to greet people with a smile and I encourage my children to do the same. A smile is a present you can give to everyone and anyone and it does not cost anything! How wonderful is that!

Amy

Blessing #5

I am thankful for St. George's Episcopal Church. We moved here 2 1/2 years ago and it has been a challenge finding a church we can call home. Back in August Stan and I went to the Bruce Springsteen concert. We went with some friends who had friends who had friends. Who would have every thought we would meet Fr. Rick while tailgating before the concert began! We had a great conversation with him and he invited us to attend one of his services.

We attended and have been going ever since! We love this church! Fr. Rick started a children's service which takes place at 10:15 every Sunday morning. It is geared towards children and it is wonderful! I love that my children look forward to going to church. They are learning and loving it!

We try to go to both the 9:00 service (more for adults but our children go with us) and then we stay for the 10:15 service and then the children have a 20 minute Sunday school following the children's service. Fr. Rick is wonderful, as are the Sunday school teachers! We have truly enjoyed meeting the other parishioners and making new friends!

If you live close to me and are looking for a church I invite you to come visit. You'll be glad you did!

Smiles,
Amy

Blessing #6: CHRISTMAS MUSIC!

I woke up this morning to do my workout and was thrilled when I turned on the boom box and realized the local radio station started playing their nonstop holiday music! I love music and I especially love Christmas music at this time of year. I always treat myself to at least one new Christmas CD every year and I always start listening to holiday music in October! Then once New Year's is over I pack the music away until the next year.

I do the same thing with my children. I started this tradtion when they were very young. I was an elementary school teacher before becoming a mother. I have a great love for chidren's literature so I have a very large collection of books. On December 1st I always bring out all the holiday books and place them in special baskets (I acutally do this with all the seasonaly books). My kids then have these books to enjoy throughout the entire season (so the fall books come out in September, the spring books in March, the summer books in June, etc). I do this with the movies, too. I love doing it this way because the kids never tire from these books and movies. They look forward to them. In fact just last night on the way home from American Girl's club my Payton said to me, "Mom I am getting so excited to get the Chirstmas books out!" We had been talking about Thanksgiving and decorating the tree and then she made this comment. I love how my children associate the holiday books with decorating!

Enjoy your day!

Blessing #7: TRAVEL!

I love to travel! Stan and I recently returned from an amazing Mediterranean Cruise...thanks to my Close To My Heart job! I earned this cruise and it was AMAZING! Stan and I actually flew to Paris 4 days prior to the cruise setting sail in Barcelona. I fell in love with the Eiffel Tower and Italy the moment my feet hit touched the soil. What beautiful buildings and landscape, delicious foods & wine and fun activities we experienced while touring Europe. I was by no means ready to come back home and have high hopes of visiting again some day!

Greetings!
Back in September I was challenged to create 10 layouts each month September-December. I have had such fun doing this! Just the other day I created this layout of my daughter, Molly. These photos were taken when she was 2. Molly had a head of curls like Shirley Temple. Oh how I loved these curls! Unfortunately, as Molly grew older (she is now 8 1/2) the curls slowly started to disappear. I wanted to capture these curls on a layout for Molly so she could see how adorable they were. The stamped image is actually from the November Stamp of the Month stamp set found in the Close To My Heart Autumn/Winter Idea book. The original idea came from another CTMH consultant. The face and curls is actually the bottom of the snowman stamped upside down! How clever is that! Molly loves this layout!

One week from today is Thanksgiving. It seems like the older I get, the faster the time goes by!

I always try to take time during the Thanksgiving Holiday to take note of all I have to be thankful for. I thought it would be fun to share with you something I am thankful for each day leading up to Thanksgiving.

I encourage you to do this same activity at home. You can write your blessings down in a notebook or post a new blessing each day on your fridge or just spend a few quiet moments reflecting in your own thoughts. Whatever way you choose to do the activity, I hope it leaves you feeling blessed each day!

Blessing #8: Nature

I am especially thankful this year. I have really enjoyed taking notice of the trees this season. It seem like there is more foilage down here in the south then in the previous 2 seasons. As I drive in and out of my neighborhood I see a rainbow of colors, leaves of all shapes and sizes. It is simply amazing all that God has created for us!
Make is a super day!

Fabulous Friends!

I just returned from the bus stop. It is 30 degrees outside this morning! When we stepped outside Payton said, "Look Mom! It snowed!" What she saw was frost. We were all so excited to feel the cold on our nose and see our breath as we spoke! Those who know me, know I miss the cool crisp temps of fall and the winter white snow of winter living down here in Charleston..
Just the other day my dear friend, Tracy called. She wanted to tell me it had snowed back in the town we moved from 2 1/2 years ago. She said the snow made her think of me. Oh how I miss that first snow of the season! I love Charleston, especially in the Spring and Summer months but I do struggle in the Fall and Winter.
Tracy made my day when she called to share her first snow with me. After I hung up with her and reflected on our conversation I could not help but feel blessed to have made some wonderful friends down here in the south but to have the bonds of friendship that I left in Ohio become even stronger even after I had moved away!
Here is a photo of Tracy and I biking the bridge here in Charleston this past August when she and her family came to visit. My family and I are excited to go visit Tracy and our other Ohio friends in just a few weeks. We are hoping for snow while we are there! If we get that wish I will be sure to post a photo of Tracy and I in the snow!
Thank you Tracy, for your wonderful phone call the other day! Thank you for our friendship!
